Independence Rock

During a recent trip, Joe and I stopped at Independence Rock. I had read about this historic landmark, but had never been here before.

Between 1843 and 1869, almost half a million emigrants passed Independence Rock on their way to a new life on the American frontier. Thousands of these travelers documented the grueling trek by inscribing their names on this landmark.
