Adding the Fused Binding

Continuing on with my "Light in the Forest" piece, it is time for trimming and adding the binding. Last week, I showed the hand dyed, block printed binding fabric. It has fusible web (Mistyfuse) attached to the back.
I cut the binding strips with scissors to make them slightly irregular.

The binding was first fused to the front of the trimmed quilt, then I folded it to the back and fused it to back as well.

  1. Hi Cynthia!

I love the back fabric. Did you print the frogs yourself? If so, how did you proceed? By the way, I think adding the birds was a good idea, they are lovely!

    Thanks

  2. I usually use commercial fabric for my backings. I am very slowly getting my stash used up! The frog fabric probably was purchased 15 years ago!

  3. What do you do with the corners on your binding?

  4. For this piece, I trimmed the binding even with the corner for both sides of the corner. I have just tried mitering the corners on a new piece. When I get around to putting that one on the blog, I will do a tutorial on the mitered corner technique (I learned it from Robbie Joy Ecklow's book).
