Zig Zag on the Sunset

This time, I thought I would try using a regular, wide zig zag stitch to attach the collaged fabric pieces.
I did not use the darning foot for free motion.  I set my machine for a wide zig zag stitch.
This went quick, much quicker than when I am using the free motion and creating texture.
I changed the thread several times.

Here it is all stitched down.  Next, I will add the block printing.

  2. Stephanie, I hope you won't think less of me if I explain that I use the scheduler in Blogger to schedule my daily posts on days when I do not have the opportunity to sit down and create a new post. I actually will do a batch of posts in one sitting and this is helpful for keeping continuity in showing the step-by-step progress on new work. I keep my camera in my studio with me at all times and every time I find myself pausing to look at my work and make decisions - I also usually take a few pictures. This helps me keep track of my progress and it seems to work well for the blog, also.

  3. Hi Cynthia,

As usual I love this piece too! The colours are rich and beautiful! How did you find doing the zigzag through the 3 layers? Do you like the look on the back fabric? How does is compare to doing the zigzag through only 2 layers?

    Thanks
    Anne-Marie B.

  4. The zig zagging through all three layers seems like a time saver at this point and I am satisfied with the way it looks on the back.

  5. May I ask you some technical questions: Why are you zick-zacking your collage? Do you not glueing your fabric pieces? Wouldn't your quilting lines be much more visible without the zick-zack or are you affraid of the fraying?
I did with a group of woman a piece for the local church and we glued the whole piece and heavely quilted and stiched the collage. Would be nice hearing your tech know-how. I like your pieces!!
    Hello and thanks from Switzerland
