Valley of Fire



Another nice day for a drive so we took a loop north to Valley of Fire State Park.

Located at the north end of Lake Mead, this area has wonderful colorful geology.





The entire area contains many examples of ancient rock art.
All very accessible.

Many of the petroglyphs are quite high up on the rocks.




Mouses Tank
This natural basin collects rain water. It was an outlaw hideout back in the early 1900's and that is how it got its name.

    Some of these photos remind me of parts of Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park. There are not so many petroglyphs in places with marked trails though.
