We arrived at Jasper Lake by mid afternoon. It was cool, breezy and partly cloudy, making for a comfortable hike. We'd hiked 7 1/2 miles in 4 1/2 hours.
We set up camp on a bluff between Golden and Jasper Lakes. Joe went down to Jasper to filter water for our supper.
After a quick bite, we headed across the lake to the inlet to try our hand at fishing.
Here's a view of our best fishing spot. We tried other spots, but this is where we caught fish. I actually caught one on the first cast.
This is my 15" Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout. It went back in the water after this picture. Joe's catch was 16" - also went back in the lake.
The view across the lake at Lonesome Mountain was lovely. The clouds moved out in the evening, and the winds calmed.
what a beautiful location and nice fish!
