Beartooth Mountains - Jasper Lake Backpacking


These Alpine Elephant Heads were in bloom everywhere.


Because of the steep granite formations on every side of the lake, there are three different inlets, and each one is a waterfall. Above, you can see the silty inlet on the Northeast side of the lake. The incoming water cut a deep dark line through the silt, which was lovely to see in the morning light.

Looking up the inlet area, we could see a waterfall. Joe took these waterfall pictures.



Joe noticed this interesting rock formation - which creates the silhouette of a heart with the lake in the background. Joe took these pictures.
