Goldenrod Spider

Three year old Airus (my grandson) spotted this spider dining on a bee in my herb garden.

Perched on this chive blossom, it managed to capture this bee.
I looked this spider up in my insect guidebook and it appears to be a female Goldenrod Spider. It is probably only about 3/8" in diameter.

  1. Great shots! I have a series of photos I took of a wasp in my yard stinging a huge spider and then carrying it off to who knows where. When you zoom in on nature it looks so brutal hehe... but I love getting up close and personal like that in my shots, too!
