Wild Blueberries at Otter Cove

 Mid July was the peak of blueberry season at Kachemak Bay.  We hiked a few miles up a trail towards the mountaintop behind Otter Cove Lodge and saw berries all along the way.

 In a few brief minutes, we were able to pick a good quart + of berries for future breakfasts.  Below - an example of the bear skat we saw frequently as we hiked the trail.  In a distance of about 1 mile, I counted 15 piles of bear skat of this size directly on the trail.  We saw no bears.
