Watercolor Blocks

Derwent Inktense Blocks.  I have been rubbing these over my mixed media pieces to emphasize the texture.

As an example, below is a piece of junk mail that has been gessoed and overpainted using a putty knife to create texture.

This is how it looks after rubbing it with the red Derwent Inktense Block.  Now it is ready for the next layer!

Beautiful! Can the watercolor blocks be used to create texture on fabric the same way that paint sticks can be used by rubbing over a texture underneath a fabric? Are the pigments permanent on if put on damp fabric?

Linda, these are water soluble, so they will dilute and spread when water is involved. That said, yes, once there is water involved they do become permanent after drying and heat setting.
