We visited Steens Mountain in Oregon last July. There was a lot of snow - an unusual amount for this time of year. The road was blocked with snow and mud, but we were able to make it to the East Rim Overlook.
Here, we were able to see the Alvord Desert and Alvord Lake - a very shallow lake in the middle of the desert (above).
