Yellowstone - Burned Trees in the Snow

As we headed out of the Yellowstone Lake basin, the road passed through a large area of burned forest.

I am really not sure when this area burned.  I spent some time researching online, but could not really come up with a date  - or even a year.  I think this area burned within the past 5 years, though.
I just loved the shadows these burned up tree trunks created on the snow.

Still that much snow? Is that unusual for this time of year? We are getting ready to head up that way soon. We try to get out there once a year. Went snowmobiling in February in West Yellowstone - our favorite snowmobile spot. Did the snowmobile tour of the park. Can't wait to get back. You are so fortunate to be able to access that beauty at your whim. I, on the other hand, have to travel all the way from North Carolina! I do so enjoy your blog Cynthia.
