Quilting the Winter Trees

After the background is completely quilted - I quilt the trees.  For this, I use two threads at once - a metallic silver from YLI and a white Aurifil in a 28 weight.  Using two threads like this gives it a good "pop" that I like for focusing on important details.

Oh, wow! That is going to look so beautiful with the silver threads sparkling in the light! Do you have a special attachment to use 2 threads?

My machine has two thread holders on the top and as you can see from the picture, I put the two threads together before I begin threading the machine. Both threads are just side by side all the way through to the needle. I have not even needed to adjust the tension for this to work successfully!

So, do you find yourself getting chilly while working on this? When the picture pulled up, all white and black, I nearly shivered, it gave such an effect of snow and winter chill!

Thanks for the info, Cynthia! I have 2 as well, and also use a cone spool for thread cones... think I'll have to give this a try. Is it difficult to get both threads through the eye of the needle?

It took just a couple of tries and the needle threader did the job. I do use a large needle - size 18.
