Pinion Jays are another bird we don't see in our yard year round.
It usually shows up in the fall - traveling in large ravenous flocks.

They descend on our birdfeeders and empty them in a matter of minutes.
They make a lot of racket.

I am not fond of the Pinion Jay, but I do think it is a rather attractive bird.

We get flocks of the Pinon Jay from time to time, and they are definitely a presence in the yard when they come! I love their color, and even their cries, but I am kind of glad they don't permanently reside near us... too much chaos! Thanks for sharing your photos.
I love reading your wildlife posts. I am an avid birder and so envy many of the birds you get there vs what I get here in northeastern Nebraska. All jays are lovely and naughty whereas Townsend's Solitaires are gentle and quietly lovely.
