Steens Mountain Wild Horses

July, 2011 Steens Mountain in Oregon.
We were fortunate to be able to get very near to a band of wild horses.
I really enjoyed seeing the wonderful patterning on these horses.
They all seemed to be in good health and were very calm and we were able to approach them on foot and they did not run away.  Fun!

Absolutely fabulous photos! One of the things I must do in this life is to see wild horses run! We looked all over on The Palouse in Eastern WA a few years ago and didn't find one horse. We have since been told that a rancher that owns much of the land there has had the horses rounded up and sent to the slaughter houses. It saddens me to think of it - those beautiful and wild horses.

We must plan a trip to see these gorgeous animals this summer. Thanks for sharing.
