In 1874, Bannack Masonic Lodge #16 build a combination lodge and school.
The public school on the first level, served students from kindergarten through 8th grade for over 70 years. It closed in the early 1950's.
The lodge is housed on the second level, and it is still has an active membership from around the world. The members have been active in the preservation of this and other buildings in Bannack.
