Our first Beartooth Mountain Day Hike for 2010.
We had never been on this trail before. The trailhead is a short drive from Red Lodge, so it took us a little more than an hour to get there from Billings!
The trail follows the Lake Fork of Rock Creek the entire way up a narrow forested valley.
Occasionally, a break in the trees will provide a view of the mountains.
We saw a few waterfalls tumbling down from the top of the ridge.

Gorgeous! I love hiking in the woods near water.
Hi Cynthia. I've been following your blog for quite some time now - I do so enjoy your excursions. I wanted to share some news with you (even though you don't have a clue who I am!) we are putting our house up for sale next week and are moving to Missoula. It's a long story (17 years long) but it's been a long time coming. Don't know why - but I just wanted to share that with you!
Missing Cody/Montana! Haven't been able to get there this year (although Bruce went in May). Thanks for the lovely pictures and inspiration for new hikes next time we are there.
