Timberline Trail Burn Area

The hike through the burn area was fascinating.

It must have burned super hot in some places.

The contrast between the white granite boulders and the blackened tree trunks gave it an otherworldly feel.

We realized we would not be able to see the hillsides across the way if the trees were still alive.

In some places the fire was hot enough to cause the granite to shatter on the surface of the rocks.

In other places, the wildflowers blanketed the ground as far as we could see.

Reminds me of what I think Mordor ought to look like except with flowers :)
