I noticed the striking silhouette against the sky and could not resist snapping a few pictures of them.

I have been enjoying your photos of the timberline trail and the burnt trees. While they make me sad, they have a certain stoic beauty even in death. There were terrible fires near here in Feb '09, with great losses of people and property, but the majority of our trees are Eucalypts and they survive such devastation, so now are covered with new, green growth - such a difference. The towns and folk who were so badly damaged are struggling still, and will do for many years.
