Adding the Fused Binding

Continuing on with my "Light in the Forest" piece, it is time for trimming and adding the binding. Last week, I showed the hand dyed, block printed binding fabric. It has fusible web (Mistyfuse) attached to the back.
I cut the binding strips with scissors to make them slightly irregular.

The binding was first fused to the front of the trimmed quilt, then I folded it to the back and fused it to back as well.

Hi Cynthia!

I love the back fabric. Did you print the frogs yourself? If so, how did you proceed? By the way, I think adding the birds was a good idea, they are lovely!

Thanks
Anne-Marie

I usually use commercial fabric for my backings. I am very slowly getting my stash used up! The frog fabric probably was purchased 15 years ago!

For this piece, I trimmed the binding even with the corner for both sides of the corner. I have just tried mitering the corners on a new piece. When I get around to putting that one on the blog, I will do a tutorial on the mitered corner technique (I learned it from Robbie Joy Ecklow's book).
