Well I am very excited about what you've done so far. This is because it's inspiring me on a project that is quite different, but just enough similar that looking at what you put up here today is inspiring me to keep on going.
In addition, I am seeing what you said you set out to do, showing light coming through trees in the woods. It's there -- are you to "close to it"?
Cynthia, you've captured the light coming through the trees, just as you said. If you leave it for a few days, you will see it better - the wood for the trees! - IMHO.
First of all I'd like to say, I love your work...so inspiring to me. Regarding this piece, since I am seeing it "shrunken" on my i-pad perhaps I'm seeing it in a different perspective than you. Far away, vs. up close and personal. Since you say you are not quite happy with it yet, I will share my thoughts with you. It has occurred to me that the trunks of the trees seem to be 'floating' and not rooted. Maybe you need some smaller, skinnier ones (to create depth) as you move toward the "light". They also seem to be too blunt/square at each end and maybe need to be blended/ softened with some leaves or bushes...or something like that. Anyway, that's my 2cents worth...keep up the great work. The quilting adds a lot! Can you describe what is bothering you about the piece? Sometimes identifying the flaws can help to arrive at solutions...
