Timberline Trail Burn


I love the way these burned trees appear to be woven as they crossed where they fell.

The fire was apparently extremely hot in this area. The trees are burned deeply. There are whole trees of charcoal.







In other places, the bark is blackened and peeling away.
Lots of texture ideas for future art!

I've been reading "The Big Burn" about the 1910 fire that ravaged northern Idaho and into Montana, so these pictures of been really interesting. Much better photography than the black and white of the 1910 era. ;-)
